Have you ever taken time to sit down and reflect on the many things you’ve been through in life? The choices, actions, highs and lows—what did they really profit you?
Maybe at one point, you chose to disobey God for the sake of gaining money, passing exams, or earning popularity. And maybe you succeeded. But in the light of eternity, what did it give you? The Bible says:
“Has not the LORD Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire...?” – Habakkuk 2:13
Habakkuk 2:4 says:
“See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright—but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness.”
There are things in life that boost our pride, but not our peace. So we must ask: Has my pride brought me closer to God or pushed me farther from Him?
“Indeed, wine betrays him; he is arrogant and never at rest...” – Habakkuk 2:5
Living for ourselves may feel freeing for a moment—but it leads to restlessness. God gives us freedom, yes, but not without responsibility. When you reflect on the times you wandered, did they give you lasting joy?
If you look back and realize that being away from God profited you nothing, why keep going down that road? Let it go. Come back to the only Source of real life and joy: our Father, who welcomes the humble and broken.
Ask your heart: What did I gain from all the time I ignored God? If it brought emptiness, why not return to the One who gives fullness? The Bible says:
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” – Hebrews 3:15
“Repent and be baptized... for the forgiveness of your sins.” – Acts 2:38
May the Holy Spirit visit you right now, open your eyes to what truly matters, and give you the strength to let go of all that profited nothing—and cling to Jesus, who gives everything.
As you think back on the paths you’ve taken and the choices you've made, ask yourself honestly — what did it profit me? No gain in this world is worth your soul or your peace. But the good news is this: God never turns away a repentant heart. He is ready to redeem every lost moment and walk you into new life.
Lord God, I confess the moments I walked in my own ways. Forgive me for the times I sought success, recognition, or pleasure apart from You. I return to You today with an open heart. Please lead me back to what truly matters — Your presence, Your truth, and Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
