If God Loves Us, Why Does He Allow Satan to Bring Us Suffering?

This is one of the hardest questions people ask: If God is good and powerful, why does He allow the devil to exist? Why does He let us suffer?

The Origin of Evil

God did not create evil. He created angels and humans with free will. Lucifer was once an angel of light—but pride led him to rebel. God allowed him to exist, but not forever. His judgment is certain.

"How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn!" – Isaiah 14:12

Why Doesn't God Destroy Satan Immediately?

God is just—and justice takes process. Just like in court, the evidence of good and evil must be seen. God is allowing time for truth to be revealed, so that when He ends evil, there will be no doubt about His righteousness.

Why Do We Suffer If God Loves Us?

God never intended for us to suffer. Sin broke the world. But through suffering, we learn to seek what truly matters. Even Jesus suffered, though He was perfect. He wept, He bled, He cried out—and He overcame.

"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." – John 16:33

God's Love in the Middle of Battle

God doesn't just rescue us from suffering—He walks with us through it. He uses even Satan’s attacks to draw us closer, grow our faith, and build eternal perspective.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him." – Romans 8:28

The Final Victory

Satan’s time is limited. God’s victory is eternal. One day, all suffering will end and justice will be done. Until then, hold on. The pain may be loud, but God's promise is louder.

Final Thoughts

Suffering can shake our hearts and test our faith — but even in the darkest valleys, God remains faithful. He does not abandon us. Rather, He walks with us, uses our pain for growth, and ultimately leads us into His glory. While we may not always understand every "why," we can trust the One who holds the future.

Let Us Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, I may not always understand the pain I go through, but I trust that You are with me in every storm. Strengthen my faith when I feel weak. Help me to fix my eyes on You and to hold on to Your promises. Use even my suffering to draw me closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
